TED Talk: You body language may shape who are
In the TED Talk, " Your body language may shape who you are", Amy Cuddy explains how your body language can change how we view ourselves and how others view us. Cuddy beings by addressing how body language can change how we are perceived based on our eye contact, posture and gestures. She goes on to explain how different "power poses" including open body positions can influence the way that we feel about ourselves and our self confidence even when doubting yourself. Cuddy explains research showing that two minutes of standing or sitting in a power position can increase levels of testosterone. This can significantly increase confidence and decrease stress. With that being said changing your posture can change your mindset. Cuddly shares her own story with feeling like an imposter after experiencing a traumatic brain injury when she was young. She was encouraged to "fake it until she made it," and eventually she found that "faking" confidence lead to her actually becoming confident. She finished her Ted Talk with a powerful takeaway, "don't fake it until you make it. Fake it until you become it."
